Deep Tech & Infrastructure

The technology bets that matter most

Three frontier technology plays that could reshape Bengal's industrial and innovation profile over the next decade.

Semiconductor
Durgapur Semiconductor Hub
Durgapur
A semiconductor manufacturing and support services unit anchored by Centre's National Industrial Corridor funding. Five industrial estates already operational. Electronics design, embedded systems, IoT and factory software opportunities are the real startup play here.
Artificial Intelligence
AI Mission and Data Centre Incentives
Mission Mode
Bengal's IT exports already reached ₹35,000 crore in 2025-26, up from ₹8,335 crore in 2010-11. Bengal Silicon Valley IT Hub covers 250 acres targeting ₹30,000 crore investment and 75,000 jobs. The AI push builds on this existing infrastructure.
Business Reform
24x7 operations
West Bengal Shops Act being amended. Round-the-clock business permitted for Kolkata and major cities. Logistics, cloud kitchens, BPOs, GCCs benefit directly.
Ease of Business
Anti-extortion law
Legislation to protect businesses from syndicate charges and informal coercion. Major investor confidence signal if actually implemented.
Large Projects
Single window above ₹100 Cr
Projects above ₹100 crore bypass local approvals entirely. Faster large investment moves means faster B2B startup ecosystems around them.
Land

Business Safety

Market Size
